Biotechnology and Biological Engineering Program Head Dr. Lemmuel L. Tayo was given the Best Research Award for the Young Scientist (BRAYS) by Merck Awards 2011. Honoring her researches in the development of novel solvents for CO2 capture, Dr. Rhoda B. Leron of the Schol of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry was conferred with the prestigious Outstanding Young Scientist (OYS) Award from the National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) last July 2014. Program Chair of the Chemical Engineering program Dr. Alvin R. Caparanga was granted the Outstanding Young Scientist (OYS) Award by the National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) last July 15, 2010. Dr. Caparanga at that time was only the second Mapúan professor to receive the prestigious award given to researchers who stand out in their respective fields of study.
