Chemical engineering student bags 2nd place in 12th Executives’ Challenge

Ken Yamauchi, a student of the School of Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biological Engineering and Material Science Engineering, is part of the team that garnered 2nd place in the 12th Executives’ Challenge held at the Electrical Engineering Auditorium in University of the Philippines Los Baños on February 12, 2017.

Gonzales lands 10th highest spot on May 2016 ChE Licensure Exam

Kenneth P. Gonzales landed on the 10th spot of the May 2016 Chemical Engineering Licensure Examination held last May 17-19, 2016 with an overall rating of 81%.

Furthermore, 22 out of 25 first time takers (88%) and 11 out of 14 repeaters (78.57%) passed the exam, resulting to an overall passing rate for MIT of 33 out of 39 or 84.62%. For comparison, the nationwide passing rate is 64.13%.

DHI gives MIKE to further MIT’s water research

The Danish Hydraulic Institute (DHI) recently introduced its set of flagship softwares for water modelling called MIKE powered by DHI on a ceremonious introduction last May 16, 2016 at the MIT Research Building.

MIKE powered by DHI was handed by DHI Regional Software Sales Executive Pierre Hoevelt and introduced a bit about the software. MIKE boasts 10 software packages under the MIKE suite that covers all the aspects of the water cycle such as ocean modelling, urban flood water, rainwater, dams and reservoirs, sewerage systems, and many more.

Chemical Engineering program of MIT receives full accreditation from PTC-ACBET

The Philippine Technological Council - Accreditation and Certification Board for Engineering and Technology (PTC-ACBET) granted the BS Chemical Engineering program along with three other programs of Mapua Institute of Technology (MIT), the full accreditation status during their institutional visit last February 12, 2016.

NRCP to induct two more MIT CheChm faculty members

The National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) under the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) will be inducting two faculty members of the School of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry on its 83rd General Membership Assembly and Scientific Conference on Research Innovation for Inclusive Development that will be held on the 16th of March 2016 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).

CHED names Mapua's Chemical Engineering Program as Center of Excellence

The Commision on Higher Education recently released CHED Memorandum Order No. 38, series of 2015, which elevates the BS Chemical Engineering program of Mapua Institute of Technology as a Center of Excellence.

This development follows as the BS Chemical Engineering program of MIT "unceasingly demonstrates excellent performance in areas of instruction, research, linkages, and institutional qualifications."

Mapuan bags 6th highest score in November 2015 Chemical Engineering Licensure Exam

Reuben James Buenafe (BS ChE, BS Chm) landed on the 6th spot of the recently held Chemical Engineering Licensure Examination last November 13-15 with an overall rating of 82.90%. Additionally, 13 more students from Mapua passed the said examination and will be attending the oath taking ceremony on a specified date by the Board of Chemical Engineering.

Mapua CheChm Quizzers grab 1st Runner-Up in Inter-University ChE Quiz Show

The team from Mapua Institute of Technology emerged 1st runner-up in the 38th Inter-University Chemical Engineering Quiz Show held on November 15, 2015 at the Assembly Hall of National College of Public Administration and Governance, University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City.  The annual competition, organized by UP Chemical Engineering Society, Inc., was part of the Students’ National Chemical Engineering Conference.
