2 MAPUA CBMES FACULTY WON 3 BEST ORAL PRESENTATION IN 4TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON WATER RESOURCE AND ENVIRONMENT (WRE 2018) IN TAIWAN

KRISTOPHER RAY S. PAMINTUAN won two (2) Best Oral Presentation awards (Session 5 - Water and Environment Science II; Session 9 - Water and Environment Science III) while ADONIS P. ADORNADO won the same award in Session 7 (Water and Groundwater II) - a total of three (3) for Mapua CBMES - in the 4th International Conference on Water Resource and Environment (WRE 2018) held in I-Shou University in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan on July 17 - 21, 2018.

MAPUA CBMES SENIOR CHEMICAL ENGINEERING STUDENT IN AIR LIQUIDE-PARIS SUMMER CAMP

Sedfrey L. Macatantan, a graduating student of Mapua University, School of Chemical, Biological, and Materials Engineering and Sciences, received a grant from AIR LIQUIDE to attend its Summer School Program in Paris, France on June 26 - July 3, 2018. The Summer School Program was attended by 30 undergraduate and graduate students from different parts of the world where Air Liquide has plants. Macatantan was the only representative of the Philippines, chosen from applicants from different universities in the country.

MAPUA UNIVERSITY GRADUATE STUDENT AND CBMES FACULTY IN ISCES 2018 IN SHANGHAI, CHINA

Adonis P. Adornado, a CBMES faculty and MSChE candidate, received a grant from United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) to attend the 2018 International Student Conference on Environment and Sustainability (ISCES) on June 2 - 7, 2018 as part of World Environment Day Celebration. UNEP, Tongji University, Beijing Environment Foundation for Young Talents, and Xinhua News Agency co-organized the event.

Lozano retires; Caparanga named new ChE-Chm Dean

Chemical Engineering program chair Dr. Alvin R. Caparanga had been named to succeed Prof. Luz L. Lozano as the Dean of the School of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry (ChE-Chm) when she retired on her 65th birthday last September 21.

Meanwhile, Prof. Edna J. Calderon will formally take up the post of chemistry program chair on October 2, another post vacated by the recently-retired dean. Caparanga will also simultaneously serve as the program chair for chemical engineering, a position he has occupied since mid-2003.

MSE Professors and Students spread Mapuan Excellence across Asia

In a span of 6 months, faculty members and students of the Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) program had published and presented a total of 12 papers on 3 different international platforms. Prof. Menandro C. Marquez, Prof. Ruth R. Aquino, and Prof. Larry T. Reyes, along with students from the MSE program, recently brought their work to Malaysia, Thailand, and Japan.

Mapuans secure three of ten highest spots in May 2017 ChE Licensure Exam

Engr. Victor J. Lau, Jr, Engr. Joshua Allen A. Alcaraz, and Engr. Gregory Emmanuel J. Mendoza respectively garnered the 2nd, 3rd, and 10th highest scores in the May 2017 Chemical Engineering Licensure Examination held last May 24, 25, and 26.

Thirty-three (33) out of fifty-two (52) examinees from Mapua University passed the exam, yielding a passing rate of 63.46% which is well above the national passing rate of 55.26%.

Congratulations to our newly minted Chemical Engineers! Viva Mapua!
