The team from Mapua Institute of Technology emerged 1st runner-up in the 38th Inter-University Chemical Engineering Quiz Show held on November 15, 2015 at the Assembly Hall of National College of Public Administration and Governance, University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City.  The annual competition, organized by UP Chemical Engineering Society, Inc., was part of the Students’ National Chemical Engineering Conference.

The lone team of Mapua Institute of Technology, coached by Dr. Alvin R. Caparanga, was composed of John Emnard A. Garcia (ChE4), Victor J. Lau, Jr. (ChE4), and Ken L. Yamauchi (ChE3). Twenty-two (22) competing teams from all over the country hurdled questions that were mostly chemical engineering topics (40%), the rest a mix of physics, mathematics, engineering mechanics, chemistry, and general information. The DLSU-Manila team took the gold.
