Honeywell UOP - Mapua CBMES Faculty Development Workshop
On August 29 - 31, 2018, scientists/technologists from the Chicago-based Honeywell UOP visited Mapua University to fufill its commitment to transfer to the faculty of Mapua-CBMES lecture materials on Gas Processing Technology. The course is the introductory course of the 3-course Petroleum Refining Track, developed jointly by Mapua, Petron Refinery Bataan, and Honeywell UOP for the 2018 Chemical Engineering Curriculum. The original track was developed jointly by Petron Refinery Bataan and Mapua University School of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry in 2012. During this period a total of five faculty members of Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering programs had industry immersion at Petron Refinery Bataan for 3 months.
This year Dr. Santi Kulprathipanja and Jay Gorawara of Honeywell UOP were resource persons in the training/workshop. Both are experts in adsorbent design and catalysis. They have a combined hundreds of patents in the area. Dr. Santi received the prestigious AIChE Gerhold Award for Process Technology in 2012. This was the 4th time they visited Mapua. The preceding 3 instances, their audience were students of the Petroleum Refining Track.
Dr. Michelle C. Almendrala, Elisa G. Eleazar, Medarlo B. De Jesus, and Kristopher Ray S. Pamintuan attended the training/worshop last month.
This activity is part of activities listed in the Memorandum of Agreement signed by Mapua University and Honeywell UOP in October 2017.
