On July 20, 2018, CHESTER KENNETH A. ANDRA, a 4th year Chemical Engineering student of MAPUA UNIVERSITY - School of CBMES, won 1st Place in the Final Engineering Project competition of International Industrial/Academic Leadership Experience Program (II/ALE) in Taiwan.

II/ALE is a summer camp that has been organized by and held at the Chung Yuan Christian University in Chung Li City, Taiwan since 2017. The program includes 15 hours of international lectures, nine business field and 13.5 days of group projects. Other activities include multiple excursions for foreign students exposure to the country's culture, unique tradition, and scenic spots. The program also promotes interaction with other students in the program - foreign and local.

This year, the camp happened on July 2 - 20, 2018.

Andra's group mates in the project were Purnima Bypalli (Indian, from Chung Yuan Christian University), Layne McMahon (American, from Iowa State University), ShaDonna Bonds (American, from Iowa State University). The group's winning project was entitled 'A Study on Technology and Application for Gas-Assisted Metal Powder Injection Molding to Improve Part Quality." Their adviser and mentor were Prof. Shia-Chung Chen and Ta-Kang Huang, both from CYCU.

The universities that participated in the program were Mapua University (Philippines), Tokyo Denki University (Japan), Atma Jaya Catholic University (Indonesia), University of Wisconsin (USA), Iowa State University (USA), San Jose State University (USA), and
Chung Yuan Christian University (Taiwan).
